Hystera is a pop culture blog with an intellectual bent that explores bodies, religion, science, and feminism. It is part research journal, part personal musings, and part archive of intriguing articles. I'm interested in anthropology of the body, narrative medicine, history of science, and reproductive justice. Expect to read about the pathologization of women, the stigma of mental health, shifting attitudes toward mental illness, witches, menstruation, madness, and revisionist history.
This blog exists to help me sort through my own thoughts but I welcome your comments, (polite) disagreement, and new ways to push my analysis.
